We are delighted to feature in this month’s Livingetc; huge thanks to the magazine and to Fiona McCarthy who came to the Design Store to interview Staffan and Monique. The conversation ranged between the practice’s signature style, current projects, our obsession with textures and Staffan’s dream dinner party guest list. We’re proud to be tucked between other fascinating pages, design tips and great homes, and want to say thank you for the insightful and generous article. Make sure you pick up a copy (or three) …
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the launch party last week, we had a great time sharing the story of Finn Juhl with you.

This year at Decorex, Staffan Tollgard Design Group has designed the John Boyd Textile stand using furniture by GHYCZY. The concept of ‘Luxury Redefined’ fuses traditional textiles with contemporary furniture.
Using original historic looms, John Boyd’s Textiles are made from horsehair, which ensures the highest quality, durability and natural fire resistance for the use of upholstery, wall coverings and screens. By selecting GHYCZY’s S02 chair, Staffan Tollgard Design Group is able to explore an intriguing contrast between the engineered metal construction and traditional horsehair.
GHYCZY will also launch a new glass top for their classic T48 table, which is made out of a unique blend of solar panel glass. Technology sits in the core of GHYCZY’s designs and this new innovative product highlights their technical and artistic strengths.

What was your route into design?
Although a baptism by fire, I am very grateful to the Inchbald for helping me translate a passion for design into a tangible and very focused education. I emerged with a strong insight into how to create functional and livable spaces, and the foundations of the language of design that an Inchbald education gives you.
How does your background in film translate into or influence your work now?
Both Monique and I came from the world of film. That’s how we told stories. Now we tell our clients’ stories. They have chosen to live in a particular place, in a particular kind of architecture and in a very personal way. They have probably travelled and brought back important memories of times and places with them. We want to bring these together to tell a simplified, single story that binds environment, architecture, function and character. It’s important to tell one story; to choose from the many clues and influences the single, important strand that can run through a design. We’ve evolved a short hand for this, the ‘red thread’.
Staffan was interviewed by our favourite architectural hardware company, Joseph Giles. Find out how trips to Japan, New York and Paris have inspired him and how he applies the Red Thread principle. Click here to read it

Perfectionism is a trait shared by artists, designers and makers around the world. And who better than Rolls Royce aficionados to celebrate the best of the perfectionist best in an exclusive book launched in London’s Saatchi gallery this week.
One of our favourite rug makers Nanimarquina has been personally selected to feature in the beautiful publication and also to showcase their work at the launch.
A short walk away from the gallery, we are showing two stand out pieces that speak of their commitment to traditional craft techniques and to their cultural heritage.
The publication ‘Striving for Perfection – A celebration of Design & Luxury’ is launched by the The Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts Club (RREC) on the 4th December.
We are proud and pleased to announce that our Knightsbridge Penthouse was awarded the Five Star Award for Best Interior Design for a London Apartment at the prestigious International Property Awards.
The high marks awarded for the project sees it judged one of two Best Apartments in the UK, earning it a nomination to compete for the award of the Best Interior Design Apartment worldwide. The final will take place in London on the 7th December … fingers crossed.
The project saw the mindful integration of two listed properties on a prominent Knightsbridge Square. An Eggersman kitchen, Armani-Roca bathrooms, curated contemporary pieces together with tailored joinery throughout has resulted in a luxurious lateral living space.

The new website also includes a feature on Staffan. Watch an interview with Staffan here.
Staffan is on the panel discussion “The Pleasures and pains of Interior Design” at this year’s Decorex on Monday 21st of September at 11am.

We are very excited to spread the news of the Mark Albrecht feature in Wallpaper’s Handmade issue. Mark was invited by Wallpaper to create a one-of-a-kind piece for the Milan fair earlier this year.
He designed and hand made a bar unit featuring some of the signature details found in his furniture collection as well as some outstanding new ideas such as a solid polished steel ice bucket. This bar unit has a new home at our Design Store – it is well worth a look!
